When people reach old age, the three highs and diabetes have become diseases that many friends can't get rid of, and they can't die if they can't be cured, but do you know that an old man in Beijing was cured of diabetes with only one trick, he didn't have injections or medicine, just simple running!
I would like to share his story with you today, hoping it will be helpful to you.
The following is the original text of Beijing Daily reporter Li Li's interview with Cao Lin (with deletions):
Running for 14 years,
He was cured of diabetes.
Aosen Park is the "running mecca" in the minds of Beijing runners. In the past 14 years, no matter how windy or rainy, there is an old man who always appears here on time, he is Cao Lin, a former professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing.
Insisting on running not only allowed him to effectively control his blood pressure and diabetes, cure depression, but also became the "Orson Legend" in the circle of runners.
In 2000, Cao Lin came to Beijing from Northeast China to work at the University of Science and Technology Beijing, where he was engaged in research on anti-tumor and antiviral nanomedicines.
Because of the change in the working environment, he began to stay up late frequently, and also gave up the sports he used to like, plus he loved meat, and unconsciously, he was less than 170 cm tall and weighed 172 pounds.
Slowly, he felt something abnormal in his body. "The most difficult thing is to go out to tie your shoes, bend down, and have a bulging belly in the middle, which is really difficult, panting like a cow. ”
He recalls that during that time, he often felt like he was going to faint in class, "walking from the first floor to the fourth floor of the laboratory, taking four breaks, and soaking his underwear."
Ao Sendong went to the hospital for a check, and Cao Lin's postprandial blood sugar level had reached about 30, which was a precursor to hyperosmolar diabetic coma. In early 2006, he was admitted to the hospital, where in addition to severe diabetes, he was also diagnosed with high blood pressure and depression.
The doctor told him: "Diabetes is incurable, and you need to take medication for the rest of your life, or rely on insulin to live." This made his mood even more gloomy.
Twenty days later, when he was discharged from the hospital with a heavy heart, the head nurse caught up with him and said, "Don't be discouraged, there were people who managed their diabetes by running, but they also need to persevere for the rest of their lives, I wonder if you can have the determination and perseverance." ”
These words lit a heart lamp for Cao Lin, and he immediately replied: "As long as I can do what I can do by enduring hardships, I can do it." ”
Since then, he has chosen a new life: running.
In the beginning, he just walked, and slowly, from running 400 meters, to being able to run 1,000 meters, and then to 10,000 meters, his running ability continued to improve. Through exercise and dieting, his weight was reduced from 172 pounds to 125 pounds in half a year.
Drugs for diabetes also range from two tablets at a time, to one tablet, to half a tablet, to a quarter tablet. In the end, the medication was completely stopped, and the diabetes was controlled and even cured only by running and diet therapy.
In the past 14 years, no matter the lightning and thunder, no matter the wind and snow, Cao Lin has never stopped running. He also participated in several marathons and ran the whole course in more than 3 hours and 50 minutes.
His story has also gradually spread in the circle of running friends, some people call him "Old Man Aosen", and some people call him "Aosen Legend".
"I'm always embarrassed by these flattering words." Cao Lin said, "I just did what everyone could do but didn't do." ”
Depression goes away
He cherishes every day of his life even more
Cao Lin told reporters that most diabetics are accompanied by depression. "When in a depressive state, it can cause endocrine disruptions in the nervous system, leading to an increase in blood sugar. Conversely, poor blood sugar control and aggravation of the disease will make the patient more pessimistic and disappointed, and aggravate the depressive state. ”
At the worst time, Cao Lin even felt that he had lost interest in anything, including life. "Even the affection of relatives, even the pursuit of scientific research that has been fought for decades, I feel indifferent."
After insisting on running, not only was his blood sugar and blood pressure under control, but his depression also slowly disappeared. "The original hopeless and helpless mood for the future has changed, and the big stone in my heart is gone, and it has become much more peaceful and refreshing. ”
From a scientific point of view, Cao Lin believes that "running can release a lot of hormones and dobutin, resulting in extraordinary pleasure." If you keep running for a long time, your depression will be alleviated or completely cured. ”
"Exercising keeps my weight at about 125 pounds, and my arms, legs, and abdominal muscles are stronger, and I sometimes show off my belly with friends. People who run are not prone to age spots on their faces. Therefore, even though I know that I am an old man, I often forget my age as long as I am with young runners. ”
In his view, running is not only a sport, but also a life attitude, which can not only strengthen the body, but also be pleasant; It can not only sharpen the mind, but also understand the reason.
"Runners will unconsciously spiritualize running, it is not for others to see, but for the beautiful pursuit of the meaning of life.
The marathon has changed my understanding of life and forged my inner world of perseverance, being at ease with what happens, not admiring vanity, always keeping a low profile, and never bowing my head. "The 14-year running career has also changed Cao Lin's mentality.
"When I first got sick, I felt that life and death were all trivial things, and it was good to be alive, and I attached too much importance to the moment of 'death' on the issue of life and death, and didn't care too much about the small things in life."
He said, "Now that I am getting older, I have turned around, I have a lighter view of death, more of an attitude of 'crying and laughing', paying more attention to the details of life, cherishing every day of life more, and feeling that I should better taste the more detailed taste of life." ”
Wrote more than 200 journals
I met countless running friends from all over the country
From diabetics who control their diseases by taking medicine to normal people who do not use any drugs to control their blood sugar; From being able to run a short distance to being able to cover a 10-kilometer distance in 40 minutes.
In 2012, Cao Lin had changed from a big fat man to a slightly thin runner.
At that time, many friends encouraged him to write about his experience, so that more people could regain their health through running. So, he began to write a running diary on QQ, to himself and to his runners.
"From then to now, I have never stopped running and keeping a running diary. Over the years, he has written more than 200 diaries, not only recording his running experience, but also integrating his personal experiences and life thoughts into words.
Although he has met many runners, Cao Lin said that his idol is still himself. "I've been running for 14 years, and I've never stopped, and I've done things at regular intervals like three meals a day. Whenever I encounter difficulties, there are always two people fighting in my body, one is persevering, the other is retreating, and in the end, the person who persists wins, and that person is myself. ”
During the pandemic
Do 2000 squats a day
The sudden epidemic made Cao Lin unable to go out for a run for a while. Starting on January 23, he switched from running to doing squats at home. "Do squats every two days, 2,000 at a time, plus 100 sit-ups and 100 push-ups. ”
When hearing this set of numbers, the reporter was very surprised, Cao Lin explained, "This kind of fast squat is different from ordinary squats, squatting is not so deep, but requires a fast squat, which is actually similar to mixed oxygen running or interval running, which can improve both leg strength and speed endurance, and feels equivalent to running 10 kilometers at moderate intensity or jogging 20 kilometers." ”
With the epidemic under control, Cao Lin returned to his beloved Orson Park. "Probably I was the first person to go into the forest park for a run. ”
He wrote in his diary, "On Chinese New Year's Eve that year, it was snowing heavily, the park had not yet been repaired, and I entered the park through an unsealed intersection. In the park, the snow is drifting, the shadows of the trees are swaying, there is no path in the near distance, and there seem to be countless Rui beasts squatting and snooping in the distance. As I ran, I secretly blessed God and Beijing for building such a big garden for me. ”
After reading Cao Lin's running experience, I believe everyone also has a lot of feelings in their hearts, it turns out that diabetes is not so invincible, as long as we can persevere, we can also return to health!
If you think Cao Lin's methods and experience in curing diabetes are good, don't hide them privately after reading it, remember to click on it and share it with friends, and everyone will thank you~
